Several groups are working on behalf of the the Karamojong to assist them in the difficult circumstances under which they live. On top of the obvious physical challenges of life in Karamoja are added the external pressures of outside cultural influence, which have twisted and contorted centuries of fairly stable social order. These development groups work in practical, consistent ways to help the Karamojong safely enter the twenty first century.

Some of the development groups working in Karamoja are:

• AD2000 and Beyond is dedicated to bringing the gospel to all people groups of the world.
  
  
• The Ethnovet is living out the love of Christ among the Karamojong in very tangible ways. Veterinary Doctor, Jean Grade says: "I've been able to incorporate their incredible knowledge of the plants and technoblend it with my knowledge of western medicines to enable them to have healthier animals and thus healthier people"
  
  
• Lutheran World Federation has been serving the Karamojong through various water projects, cereal banks, agro-pastoral development, and the building of resource centers and libraries.
  
  
• Alternative Basic Education for Karamoja (ABEK), is a Karamojong initiated education program aimed at preparing the next Karamojong generation to live in a world in contact with the outside.
  
  
• The World Food Programme currently serves the region of Karamoja with its Project Uganda QAP 6013.
