The Great Commission

In the last chapter of the Gospel according to Matthew,
it is recorded that Jesus returned to life from the third
day of death in a cold, dark tomb. He had instructed His
eleven remaining disciples to return to a certain mountain
in Galilee where He would meet them. As Jesus appeared to them in full view, most of His followers were filled with adoration and bowed before Him in worship, while a few were confused by the incredible event and could not quite understand it. To convince and assure the doubters, Jesus drew near to the group and spoke to them, saying:
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everthing I have commanded you. (Matthew 28.18-20, NIV) |
