On the remote Karamoja Plateau of northeast Uganda, the Karamojong people eke out a living in an unpredictable and unforgiving climate. Beyond these harsh realities, the entrance of various external forces into Karamoja have distorted the Karamojongs' cattle-based social order into one dominated by cattle-raiding, lawless violence, and a low regard for human life.

Their Last True Hope

A century of human attempts to force order and peace in the region have generally resulted in little or no lasting fruit. Many who are familiar with the plight of the Karamojong see little hope for these people, outside of the power of God and of His Good News of reconciliation in Christ — the only Prince of Peace. In response to this true hope, and compelled by the love of Christ that they have experienced themselves, various groups of "Great Commission" Christians have joined God as He reaches out in love to the Karamojong.
