Be Prepared !

Spiritually speaking, much of Karamoja is a very dark place. Bondage and slavery to Satan is prevalent, and evident in many ways. Dark spiritual personages reign over peoples' lives here through many channels, and these authorities are very jealous of the power they wield. They will not easily yield to those who confront them and desire to remove them. When they see other forces begin to be arrayed against them, they will do whatever is necessary to discourage these "interlopers" from encroaching on "their" territory.

It goes without saying that you cannot and should not attempt to enter this fray based on your own initiative, your own power, or your own righteousness. It is only through the direction of our King that it makes sense to enter the territory of the enemy. And it is only under the power of the Name and Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus of Nazareth can we pull down strongholds of Satan. And of course, it is only in our complete confidence in the sinless perfection and matchless righteousness of Jesus alone—the Annointed and Holy One of God—that we can withstand the withering blast of the Accuser of the Brethren.

We must not rely on ourselves or our own devices or understanding as we engage the enemy. Paul revealed the reality of this situation to the believers in Corinth, as he does to us:

"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
(2 Cor 10:3-5)

And to those in Ephesus, he spells out the details of the weaponry that God has graciously granted us—both defensive armor and offensive weapons:

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."
(Ephesians 6.10-18)

As our Lord warned those who professed a desire to follow Him in battle:

"Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying, `This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.' Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. "
(Luke 14:28-32)
