En La Villita, Art Works!
Bill has been invited to photograph and produce a one-man show for the La Villita neighborhood, that will explore the deep and diverse creative culture of that world-famous community. This work will expand upon the rich source of inspiration and expression that he uncovered in his exhibit for FotoSeptiembre 2007 (a work of SAFOTO International Photography Festival), which was called "Art In the Garden,". This previous series revealed creative human expression in the context of numerous garden settings.

San Antonio's La Villita is an unusual concentration of creative effort, and is no newcomer on the art scene. It's history as a vibrant and diverse community is nearly as old as San Antonio itself, and it's dedication to the creative arts harkens back many decades. The physical and cultural environment of La Villita itself is the rich soil out of which artists in the area express their desire to create and also ply their trade.

Bill will be creating his images as dual portraits of La Villita itself and the artists it nurtures. These photographs will be created in a panoramic format, which utilizes extremely wide angles of view to reveal these artists as they create within the setting of the La Villita neighborhood. The extreme field of view allows an examination of the relationships between the subject and their enviroment in ways that are unavailable to more conventional forms of photography.
